Our Favourite Things
Coco’s Cantina
We ventured in to Coco’s Cantina on a drizzly mid December Auckland night and it was fantastic!
We had been warned about the possible waiting time as Coco’s Cantina don’t take bookings. However, after only 20 minutes (enough time to review the wine list) we were taken to our table in the rear courtyard, wine glass in hand. We selected the Alpha Domus “The Barnstormer” Syrah - a delicious wine from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand’s premier Syrah region.
Everything on the menu looked great which meant that ‘someone’ couldn’t decide what to have. Eventually we settled on a broad bean bruschetta and duck liver parfait to start followed by a veal schnitzel and eggplant ravioli with a side of polenta chips. The food was all delicious and perfectly cooked and presented. The polenta chips are a must have! The staff were very friendly and attentive which meant the wine glasses remained topped up.
Coco’s Cantina delivers fantastic informal dining. The food is rustic Italian with influences from the Mediterranean and is simple yet delicious. The service is great and we enjoyed the busy and vibrant atmosphere. We haven’t spent much time in K Road but with a ‘Cantina’ like this, we will definitely be back!
